Wonderful job -- you really write in a way that lets the reader directly connect and empathize with you, while still using beautiful, descriptive language. I love it.
This was such a great piece, thank you for sharing. I related so much to the heartbreak and hopelessness but also hope, and i loved the honesty of it <3
"A few months later, he posted his girlfriend on Valentine’s Day. She went to school three hours away. So it wasn’t timing. It wasn’t distance. It wasn’t the concept of a relationship. It was just me."
It is so, so easy to think this way, that you weren't enough for someone or that you were too much for someone. Just as much as it wasn't about him for you, it wasn't about you for him. As women, it is hard for us to think selfishly, especially in dating, but we have to adapt to a more assertive and particular nature in order to find those who are worthy of our love and willing to dish it back.
Excellent reflection on the hell of today's situationship.
ive been on both spectrums of this kind of love and as for your side you love the idea of what could have been everyone loves the idea of a relationships getting flowers, dancing under the stars, etc. as for being on the ‘mans’ side of things i admit ive led on people on text just selfishly out of boredom. Actions speak louder than words im sorry you went through that.
Grateful I read this, been reflecting on situations I’ve experienced and letting go. This is full of such important feelings and reminders. Thank you!!

Oh how I relate, it wasn’t him, but what he represented, a sign that I could still love again.
